Scripture: 1st John 4:12
No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us.
Thought for the Day: Perfect love is unceasing love, and this expression of love is not always seen in our day to day relationships. There are many things people call love, but they do not resemble the life and teachings of Jesus. When God resides within us through prayer, study, service and worship, the love ultimately defined by God is a love that begins to take shape…eventually, according to 1st John, being made perfect within us. We are not the ones to perfect this love. We simply make room for it to dwell more fully each day. The love of God is immeasurable, unceasing, boundless and unconditional. Each of those adjectives describes something that is beyond the limits of a finite human being, but when the Eternal One is involved, the impossible becomes possible.
Prayer: Make the love you have given to me, O Eternal Creator, a love that continues to expand beyond my limited capacities. Allow your Spirit to shape it into a love that more resembles the unconditional and unceasing nature of all your gifts. Amen.
