Thought for the Day: Today is my sister Beverly’s birthday. She lives with her husband, Scott, in Lincoln, NE. I wish we could see them a bit more often, but even with the distance, I have come to appreciate and enjoy her faith journey. She is passionate about where faith intersects the most vulnerable in our society. She does a lot in her church, while also participating in a denominational program for those wishing to explore more deeply both scripture and theology. Her life is a wonderful witness to these words in Matthew’s Gospel. Bev is incredibly intelligent and she understands the complexities of the world, but she finds many ways of living the very simple words of treating others as you would want them to treat you. It is good to have those who provide an example of what that looks like.
Prayer: As you give me models of your teaching, Gracious God, may I do more than watch and applaud. Give me the courage to do likewise. Amen.
