Scripture: Matthew 13:31-32
Jesus told another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and planted in his field. It’s the smallest of all seeds. But when it’s grown, it’s the largest of all vegetable plants. It becomes a tree so that the birds in the sky come and nest in its branches.”
Thought for the Day: Many of my daily thoughts that make it into my blog are rather mundane, really unremarkable. Only on occasion do I dig very deep theologically, yet I hope my words relate to where most of you live your day-to-day lives. Jesus spoke quite often about the mundane, yet the often overlooked items – such as a seed – became the focal point of his message. Of course, he had a real ability to take the humdrum and regular things of life and allow them to become a window through which people glimpsed some of the greatest theological concepts. Now yesterday, I was on the phone for over 90 minutes trying to correct a billing mistake on my prescription. It wasn’t all that much money, but I really didn’t want to pay that extra. I was transferred seven times, and the last person (who was incredibly helpful) had to put me on hold five separate times while she attempted to contact others. When I finished, I said to someone in the office, “There is almost 2 hours of my life that I will not get back.” In our society, time is money – but how often have I lost valuable time in my quest for just a small amount of money? I have a feeling that a few of you can relate.
Prayer: Continue to help me in my search for kingdom priorities. Holy God, allow me to see every minutes as holding real Godly potential. Amen.
