Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 9:6
What I mean is this: the one who sows a small number of seeds will also reap a small crop, and the one who sows a generous amount of seeds will also reap a generous crop.
Thought for the Day: Price gouging! Can you believe it? I just read a second article about people taking advantage of the moment and people’s vulnerabilities. It breaks my heart! Then you make an order for sub-sandwiches for all those working at the church, and when you go to Jersey Mike’s, there is no price gouging. In fact, when they hear where the sandwiches are going, they give them to the church for free. Thanks, Jersey Mike’s! (I wasn’t the one who ordered or picked up…just to clarify)
Paul makes a rather basic observation about sowing seeds in the passage from 2nd Corinthians. I doubt anyone would disagree in theory, yet we see people sow sparingly, cautiously or even with a stingy attitude. They hold back expecting to reap a generous crop. Now I’m not talking about grass seed, but I am pointing to the sowing of time, energy, love and compassion. I see it all the time at the church. People didn’t sow such gifts so they would reap in the end. They did it because of their relationship with Jesus, but God seems to bring it back around in some wonderful and surprising way.
Prayer: O Giver of All Good Gifts, we give you thanks for the generosity of your Spirit and the way that generosity finds its way into the human heart. Amen.
