Scripture: Ephesians 2:20-22
As God’s household, you are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. The whole building is joined together in him, and it grows up into a temple that is dedicated to the Lord. Christ is building you into a place where God lives through the Spirit.
Thought for the Day: I am thankful for the church and the Church. People often speak about the church, little ‘c’ and the Church, big ‘C’. Little “c” church is the local church and Big “C” Church is the Church Universal. I am always bragging on Cypress Creek Christian Church, but the last few days have only given me more reason for my bragging. But today, I need to brag on the Church to which we connect – both denominationally and ecumenically. Churches from across the country have contacted me by email, phone, Facebook and text. They are prayerfully with us, but many of them are sending money directly to CCCC or to Week of Compassion. We needed space for a funeral, and before long, I had multiple offers…not only for the current funeral, but future funerals, weddings and meetings. Churches from other denominations told me that they would do whatever they could do to support our unique traditions. The household of God, built from the cornerstone of Jesus Christ, is joined together. Geography, denomination and tradition may look as if it divides us, but the Spirit refuses to be split. God is good!
Prayer: Your Spirit brings us together, O Lord, and we need that connection if we desire to be your church in the world. Today, we offer a special word of gratitude for that beautiful and life-giving connection. Amen.
SATURDAY UPDATE – An amazing amount of work has been done. Today, we will meet from 10am – 2pm, but it will be mostly heavy lifting. There are some church folks in the community who need some help in their homes. Maybe you can help. Come by the church, and we can help guide you. We will be hiring a mitigation company to come in and take out all the drywall and other damaged parts of the facility. They will disinfect the buildings and run strong dehumidifiers throughout the complex. More details at the become available. As you can guess, things are moving fast.
