PRAYER…
O God of Heaven, O God who came to Earth –
We are aware of the many individuals and families dramatically impacted by the storms. We ache for them and with them, yet we claim by faith that you are present to them and continue to be present with a love that knows no end. We are aware of those who are displaced by the storms. Their lives have been turned upside down, and hopelessness has begun to overshadow them. May your church, the communal vessel of your Spirit, continue to bring light into the darkness. We are aware that what we see close to home is only a fraction of the brokenness in our country and around the globe. From Florida to Puerto Rico, from California to Las Vegas, from nations devastated by war and to those dealing with famine, we remain aware as you would have us be faithfully aware. Our prayers remain strong; our resilience and hope is not lost; our willingness to act and sacrifice is already in motion; our compassion has not diminished. You have called us by your gift that came from heaven to earth. Let our lives continue to listen for the living presence of Jesus who invites us to follow his example as one who was faithfully aware of every need, fear, hurt and concern. As our mentor and model, we are aware of Jesus who commanded his disciples to live as he lived. It is this Jesus that brought us to this prayer. Amen.
