Scripture: 1st John 2:16
Everything that is in the world—the craving for whatever the body feels, the craving for whatever the eyes see and the arrogant pride in one’s possessions—is not of the Father but is of the world.
Thought for the Day: I am reminded of the words from Mildred Lisette Norman (aka – Peace Pilgrim) who said,
Anything you cannot relinquish when it has outlived its usefulness possesses you, and in this materialistic age a great many of us are possessed by our possessions.
Today, I am going to do an inventory of items for which I have a strange and arrogant pride. In prayer, I hope to discover whether confession is enough, or will I need to completely relinquish the item(s). We like our stuff, and how often does our like of stuff overshadow our love of the Lord?
Prayer: Greet me this day, O Gracious God, with your love! Greet me, and then teach me how better to love you. Greet me, and then show me where I might be a bit too enthralled with my stuff. Greet me this day, O Gracious God, and continue to love me into the person you believe I can be. Amen.
SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT
