Scripture: Luke 15:7
In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who changes both heart and life than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to change their hearts and lives.
Thought for the Day: Today is Joy Sunday!! Let’s be clear though – it’s not the only Sunday for joy. Every Sunday should know joy because every Sunday is about Jesus, the very essence of joy. During the season of Advent, we set aside a specific Sunday to speak directly to the generosity of God found in the birth of a child. Today in worship, we will reflect on how joy is not an emotion, but a gift. It is not a feeling, but an encounter with the benevolence of God that changes everything. Come to worship and receive some joy!
Prayer: I take a deep breath and breathe in your gift, O Merciful and Benevolent God. I receive Jesus who not only makes us rejoice, but is the very essence of joy. Amen.
