Scripture: Proverbs 8:27-31
When the Lord established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him, like a master worker; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the human race.
Thought for the Day: The Dalai Lama wrote, “People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.” I wish it were not the case, but so many beautiful human beings are viewed as objects, while the objects we have created are held in such high regard. In the Proverb above, we hear Wisdom( Chokmah in Hebrew and Sophia in the Greek) speaking about her place with God, and from her vantage point, she rejoices in the creation and delights in the human race. Those things to which God has given life are to be respected for the life that they have, but the moment they slip below any thing without life is the moment that we lose sight of the gift that we have been given. Disrespect of the gift of life in another is to disrespect the gift of life within ourselves.
Prayer: For the life I have and the life I see in others, help me to honor and respect it above all things. This is my request, my plea, O Life-giving Lord. Amen.
TO THE CYPRESS CREEK CHRISTIAN CHURCH COMMUNITY – As many of you heard, the church campus was an island. The water level was very high all around us, but it does not appear as if we took on water. Currently, the back parking lot has water, but members of the leadership team here at the church are confident that it will be dry by Sunday. We have canceled all events here at the church on Saturday (including the Garage Sale), but the plan is to be here Sunday morning. If you come Sunday morning (and I hope you will), please be cautious on your drive here. Most roads should be open, but remain careful. There is parking along York Minster Drive on the West side of the church, and the parking at the Court House should be available. If you received damage from the flood waters or the wind, please let us know. We wish to be there for you in this time. Keep the prayers coming for the larger community of Houston, and as you are already doing, be that neighbor to your neighbor.
