Scripture: Psalm 111:1-2
Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
Thought for the Day: Yesterday and again today, I am spending time at the Lanier Theological Library. As a side note, I appreciate Mark Lanier creating this magnificent setting and allowing a good old country bumpkin preacher, like myself, to use the many resources free of charge. As I sit looking out the window into the courtyard of the library, surrounded by books behind me and above me, I am struck by what appears to be an interesting contrast. Faith is a constant struggle between inside and out, study and doing, head and hands. The struggle is often viewed as a tension between opposites, but I believe Christianity invites that struggle to occur as we work to bring what appears to be opposites into a wholeness that God intended. It is not an either-or, but a both-and. The complete person we are is found only as we remove the wall between these two worlds and allow the free movement between one and the other.
Prayer: With an openness to your vision of wholeness, O Creator of Life, I seek to better understand the world with less conflict and more harmony. Amen.
