Scripture: Psalm 63:1
O God, you are my God, I see you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Thought for the Day: When we were living in Florida and making one of our visits to Disney World, we ran into a couple from the distant land of Houston, TX. It was a very hot day, and this couple said they had never felt that uncomfortable. That said something! As we were wandering through one of the parks, I noticed a drinking fountain. I approached it, but when I pressed the button, nothing appeared. There is nothing more disappointing when you are thirsty than to come up empty handed at a drinking fountain…or should I say, empty mouthed. There are many who say they have gone to the divine well to drink from the abundant source of grace only to be disappointed. In a lot of those cases, I find that no real effort was ever given. I believe God’s well always has plenty from which to drink, but many show up unwilling to even drop the bucket into the well. Grace is free, but the faith we use to draw the grace from the well requires us to relinquish our tight grip on the handle.
Prayer: When life becomes like a desert, O Lord, may I be led to the well that will not disappoint. Amen.
