Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Psalm 77:10
And I say, “It is my grief that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”

Thought for the Day: It was Voltaire who wrote that “tears are the silent language of grief”, yet their silence is still heard in the heart of God.  The One who created us and continues to seek ways of redeeming us is the One who does not desire for us to continue in grief.  The experience of grief has its purpose, but it was never intended to be the place where a person takes up residence.  We are to move through grief, and “the Most High” seeks to change the grief – or it could be that the Most High seeks to change us through the process of grief.  On this important day in American history, let us be mindful of those who still grieve the loss of life, innocence and security.  God understands the pain, but God also wishes to see each person move toward healing.

Prayer: Assist me, O Most High God, for I desire to grieve the losses of life without rooted myself in the grief.  Amen.
