Scripture: Jeremiah 31:1-3
At that time, says the Lord, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
Thought for the Day: I had a good, but busy day yesterday. It was one of those where I got to the end, and though I was pretty exhausted, I felt good about all that had been accomplished. Oh sure, there was still plenty left undone, but it will be there later today. As I walked out of the church from my Bible Study with Zach walking beside me, I was in a bit of a fog. I’m pretty sure my mind was already contemplating the moment when I would climb into bed. In such moments, we can be a bit oblivious to what is happening around us…missing many God-Appearances. Yet Zach called me out of my covetous thoughts about sleep with the words, “Dad, can I hold your hand?” He’s ten, almost eleven years old. There ain’t going to be too many more requests like that. His hand was in my hand before the word yes came to my lips. As we walked to the car, we didn’t say anything else…but there was a joy that could only have its origin in the One who is the source of life and love and beauty. Thanks, God! Thanks, Zach!
Prayer: Many things can have us overlooking your living presence, Lord. Forgive us, and then call us back into the moment that is rich with your love and mercy. Amen.
