Scripture: Daniel 6:10
Although Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he continued to go to his house, which had windows in its upper room open toward Jerusalem, and to get down on his knees three times a day to pray to his God and praise him, just as he had done previously.
Thought for the Day: When I hear the word prayer, I think of a passive and rather non-controversial act. It is just a little talk with God, yet throughout the centuries, people have prayed even when the act was outlawed. They allowed their relationship with God to go on display for everyone to see even when such an act could mean arrest or death. In today’s world, we feel a bit awkward praying before a meal at a restaurant where the only consequence is that our food might get cold if the prayer goes long. I’m not suggesting we use prayer to demonstrate how wonderfully faithful we are, but even a humble word of gratitude before a meal demonstrates a clear alternative to the selfishness of our culture.
Prayer: Help me, Lord, for I desire my life to say something about you. Amen.
