Scripture: Romans 1:13-15
I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.  I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish—hence my eagerness to proclaim the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

Thought for the Day: On this day in 1920, the first commercial radio station started broadcasting.  Communication would be forever changed as a human voice could be transmitted across great distances and to large numbers of people.  There is no question that Christianity has used radio, TV and even the internet to bring the message of Jesus to numbers that Paul and the original Apostles couldn’t have imagined, but even in his letter, Paul spoke of an eagerness to visit Rome and proclaim the Gospel in person.  Technology is amazing and has been a great instrument by which many have heard the Gospel, but I wonder if the effectiveness of Paul’s simple approach of going and visiting in person might be what the world needs right now.  Since God came to us in a very personal way, should we be willing to do the same?

Prayer: Lord, may my voice be an acceptable instrument for the Gospel.  Amen.
